Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University is seeking an Extended-Care Teacher for camp sessions to provide extended supervision to students during and after regular pick-up. The role is filled by Art Education students with experience managing groups and a commitment to fostering respectful environments.

You will communicate weekly with Program Directors on classroom expectations, support student engagement, and restore CADC classrooms and workspaces to their original state.

• Actively pursuing or recently obtained K-12 Art Education licensure.
• Demonstrated experience fostering respect, professionalism and civility with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students.

Responsibilities

• Provide extended supervision to students during and after regular pick-up.
• Communicate classroom expectations to Program Directors and engage with students.
• Restore CADC classrooms and workspaces to their original state at the end of each week.
• Operate as a Tier 2 individual per Compliance Training.

Job description

Extended-Care Teacher:

Each camp session will have one Extended-Care Teacher who provides extended supervision to students during and after regular pick-up. Extended-Care Teachers are Art Education students with experience managing groups of students. They are to communicate with the Program Directors on their classroom expectations and how to engage with students. At the end of each week, Extended-Care Teachers are responsible for restoring CADC classrooms and workspaces to their original state. Extended-Care Teacher are Tier 2 individuals (see Compliance Training).

Minimum Qualifications:

• Actively pursuing or recently obtained K-12 Art Education licensure.

• Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.

Preferred Qualifications:

• In VCU’s Art Education program or recent graduate (within two years) of an Art Education program with licensure.

• Local to Richmond Area.
