Woolpert, Inc. in Virginia Beach is seeking a CAD Technician to join our Survey & Geomatics team. The role involves creating, collecting, analyzing and validating enterprise asset data within CAD, GIS, or other asset information storage databases.

Our Survey CAD Technician will reduce field data, research land records, and prepare boundary surveys and topographic maps to meet client requirements. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams, interact with client staff

Qualifications

• Knowledge of reading highway plans, plats and deeds.
• Demonstrated ability to review, process and close traverse data and control networks.
• Experience producing ALTA surveys and topographic maps.

Responsibilities

• Process field data daily in Trimble Business Center including GPS/RTK data.
• Convert data between AutoCAD, Esri geodatabase features, and ESRI shapefiles.
• Prepare boundary surveys and subdivision plats as needed.
• Create topographic surfaces from field data and deliverables.
• Research government files and public records for projects.
• Produce accurate maps, survey reports, and legal descriptions.
• Verify feature attributes for accuracy and quality.
• Suggest process improvements on current projects.

Position Overview

Woolpert is hiring a CAD Technician to join our Survey & Geomatics team at our Virginia Beach office.

The Survey CAD Technician will work collectively with the Survey Team Leader, Phase Manager, and cross-functional internal departments. This individual will create, collect, analyze and validate enterprise asset data and associated land data within the CAD, enterprise geographic information system (GIS), or other asset information storage databases. Our Survey CAD Technician is responsible for reduction of field data, land record research, preparation of boundary surveys, and topographic maps to meet internal and external customer requirements. Our Survey CAD Technician will have a proven ability to work with and directly interact with cross-functional internal contacts to execute the required work, interact with the client staff in a professional and proactive manner to resolve issues, track progress, perform QA work associated with the requirements, make necessary corrections, and continually manage schedule and ensure quality.

What You Will Do:

• Process daily field data in Trimble Business Center, including but not limited to GPS Static files, RTK Conventional files, and Conventional Total Station files.
• Convert data between standard spatial data formats including but not limited to AutoCAD, Esri geodatabase feature classes, and ESRI shapefiles.
• Prepares ALTA boundary survey plat deliverables.
• Prepares topographical surfaces from field data and corresponding map deliverables.
• Prepares subdivision plats as needed, including replats.
• Research and interpret government files, utilities, and public record documentation.
• Produce accurate and legible maps, survey reports and legal descriptions, or displays for various departments.
• Verify map feature and attribute accuracies.
• Identify and recommend process improvements and enhancements on existing projects.

What You Will Bring:

• Demonstrated knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Trimble Business Center
• Able to review, process and close traverse data, control networks
• Experience using MicroStation with GeoPak and/or OpenRoads
• GIS related experience a plus
• Licensed Surveyor in Training (L.S.I.T) Certificate is a plus
• Knowledge of reading highway plans, plats and deeds
• Able to graphically present information clearly and concisely
• Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
• Ability to provide excellent customer service
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in a dynamic environment
• Strong organizational, time management, attention to detail and analytical skills
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment; offer constructive feedback and direction to support goal

Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Pay Range

$27.78 - $41.63 USD
