Job summary

Contech Engineered Solutions is seeking a CAD Technician to design and draft detailed drawings, determine critical dimensions, and generate fabrication drawings using AutoCAD and related software. You will collaborate with design staff to ensure accuracy and timely delivery.

You will develop standard details, perform calculations, and help translate engineering concepts into manufacturable designs, while occasionally visiting facilities for site verification.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Drafting, Engineering, or AutoCAD.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, technical manuals, and engineering concepts.
  • Strong AutoCAD background and proficiency in current versions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent mathematical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to changes, delays, and unexpected events.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret documents, site plans and engineering concepts.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design and Drafting: create detailed drawings and BOMs for manufacture and installation.
  • Critical Dimensions: review information to determine key dimensions.
  • Software usage: work daily with AutoCAD, AutoCAD 3D, Civil 3D, Fusion 360, Inventor.
  • Calculations: perform calculations for fabrication drawings.
  • Collaboration: coordinate with design staff and review drawings with peers.
  • Quality Assurance: produce accurate drawings for review and approval.
  • Project prioritization: manage projects by due dates.
  • Standardization: develop and maintain standard and custom details.
  • Communication: act as interface among operations, plant managers, customer service, and engineers.
  • Field visits: occasionally visit manufacturing facilities or installation sites.

About the Role:

As a CAD Technician, your primary responsibilities include:

  • Design and Drafting: Utilize custom programs to independently create detailed drawings and, when necessary, bills of material for the manufacture and installation of our products.
  • Critical Dimensions: Review design information, site plans, and manuals to determine critical dimensions for designs.
  • Software Expertise: Utilize applications such as AutoCAD, AutoCAD 3D, Civil 3D, Fusion 360, and Inventor daily to complete drawings within project deadlines.
  • Calculations: Perform necessary calculations to generate design information required for the creation of fabrication drawings.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with the design staff to determine design requirements, modifications, and resolve issues. Submit and review drawings with peers as needed before design staff review.
  • Quality Assurance: Efficiently produce accurate drawings for review and approval by the design staff.
  • Project Prioritization: Prioritize assigned projects based on due dates.
  • Standardization: Develop and maintain standard and custom details for all product families.
  • Communication: Serve as an interface between commercial operations, plant managers, customer service representatives, and structural engineers when necessary.
  • Field Visits: Occasionally visit manufacturing facilities or product installation sites.
Qualifications:
  • Associates degree in Drafting, Engineering, or AutoCAD.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, technical manuals, and engineering concepts.
  • Strong technical skills, including an academic background in AutoCAD and proficiency in current versions of AutoCAD.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent mathematical skills and demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to changes, delays, and unexpected events.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret documents, technical manuals, site plans, and engineering concepts.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
