Job summary

Wells is seeking a CAD mold designer to create and optimize 2D/3D molds in a manufacturing environment. You will translate architectural and engineering drawings into production-ready models using AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Revit, and collaborate across plants to ensure fit and feasibility.

Ideal candidates will have hands-on CAD experience, knowledge of CNC programming, and the ability to maintain accurate design documentation while supporting efficient workflows.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Revit (a plus) to create 2D/3D molds.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering and architectural drawings.
• Experience in manufacturing environments and CNC concepts is preferred.
• Remote, but near one of our facilities.

• Maintain documentation of design changes and production plans for CNC and production teams.
• Coordinate with the CNC programming team, providing guidance and technical support.
• Work with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure integration of design and manufacturing.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience using AutoCAD, SketchUp and Revit (a plus), to create and manage 2D/3D molds in a manufacturing or precast environment. They bring strong technical expertise in CNC programming and are able to translate engineering and architectural drawings into accurate, production-ready models and programs. This individual understands manufacturing workflows and can optimize master mold layouts to support efficient and consistent production.

IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE

• High school diploma or GED required; technical certificate, associate degree, or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
• Proficiency in CAD and modeling software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, SolidWorks, or similar).
• Knowledge of CNC programming and machining principles in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering and architectural drawings.
• Ability to convert designs into production-ready models or CNC programs.
• Ability to maintain and manage accurate technical documentation and drawings.
• Understanding of general manufacturing processes and production workflows.
• Remote, but close to one of our facilities

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Occasional visits to active plant and field locations are required based on operational needs.
• Ability to wear all required PPE, including but not limited to safety boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, high visibility vest, hard hat, and other PPE as required while in the plant and field.
• Must be able to stand, walk, and navigate active plant and field environments as needed.
• Must be able to climb stairs, walk on uneven surfaces, and safely move through industrial work areas.
• May be exposed to moving equipment, machinery, and other standard industrial hazards.
• May be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, rain, as well as noise, dust, and vibration.
