CAD Technician/Civil Drafter

Location: Northbrook, IL

Type: Permanent/Direct Hire

Our client is seeking a motivated CAD Technician to perform tasks in preparing civil construction documents under the supervision of project engineers and managers.

We are specifically looking for a CAD technician with experience using Bentley's Geopak or OpenRoads to prepare cross sections and determine volumes for existing and proposed surfaces of site development projects.

Essential Duties and Functions

• Have a working knowledge of Bentley products, MicroStation, Geopak, OpenRoads
• Prepare plan and profile, and cross section sheets using Bentley software
• Draft civil engineering plans and topographical surveys for land development or redevelopment projects, including commercial, residential, and municipal projects
• Work effectively in a dynamic environment and adapt to project changes
• Interpret complex instructions, diagrams, and notes to create or modify electronic drawings
• Maintain accuracy and effectiveness in CAD work
• Follow filing, storage, and retrieval methods for drawings
• Coordinate with designers to incorporate concepts into drawing packages
• Work independently or as part of a team to meet client goals
• Manage multiple projects with a strong work ethic and self-motivation

Requirements

• Understanding of Civil Engineering concepts and terminology
• Proficiency with Bentley products, MicroStation, Geopak, OpenRoads, and drafting/surveying practices
• Experience with site engineering design and topographic work
• Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and current MicroStation versions
• AutoCAD knowledge is a plus
• Ability to work onsite with remote flexibility

Education and Experience

• High school diploma required
• Post-secondary or technical education highly desirable
• Minimum of five years of CAD drafting experience in civil disciplines
