Job summary

CTL Engineering, Inc. is seeking CAD Technicians (AutoCAD) for civil projects in Morgantown, WV, with various experience levels.

College, trade school graduates, and experienced technicians are encouraged to apply to begin or advance a career in civil/site design. The role supports state, county, federal, and private clients across roadway/bridge design, site development, infrastructure projects, and industrial sites.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelors in Drafting and Design Technology preferred.
• High school diploma with 2+ years AutoCAD drafting experience accepted.
• Knowledge of civil engineering basics including sheet organization, topographical data, scales, and coordinate systems.
• Experience developing grading plans, cross-sections, alignments, profiles, 3D surfaces and earthwork volumes.
• Experience using land or aerial surveying/mapping data and files.
• Experience with stormwater management is a plus.
• Experience with Autodesk AutoCAD (latest releases) is required; Civil3D preferred.

Responsibilities

• Draft, edit, and finalize technical drawings for civil and site design projects.
• Transfer information from drawings to final CAD drawings using symbols and standards.
• Analyze sketches and notes to determine best approach for drawings.
• Copy detailed plans and perform non-routine drafting assignments.
• Operate plotter, printer, scanner, and other I/O devices.
• Proofread CAD drawings for accuracy and formatting.
• Collaborate to improve CAD standards and efficiencies across the company.
• Work with Engineers and Project Managers to prepare design drawings and details.
• Review completed work to ensure quality.

We provide civil/site design and land surveying, environmental, geotechnical, construction administration & inspection, accident reconstruction, roofing/building envelope, A/V system design, troubleshooting & installation, transportation design (bridge/roadway), and specialized testing services to the construction industry.)

We are looking for CAD Technicians who will play a key role in Civil and Site Design projects for state (WVDOH), county, federal, local and private Clients - including roadway/bridge design, site design for industrial/large commercial projects, mine reclamation, water/wastewater, residential, and municipal utility/infrastructure sectors.

Highlights

• Perform computer‑aided design and drafting (CADD) for a variety of civil and site design projects: developing layouts, grading plans, and details for civil and environmental engineering projects, including bridge/roadway, residential and commercial developments, landfills/mine reclamation, industrial sites and utilities.

• Review completed work products to ensure quality.

Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Associate degree or Bachelors in Drafting and Design Technology preferred; or
  • High school diploma and a minimum of two (2) years’ experience performing AutoCADD drafting work in a professional setting; or
  • Equivalent education, experience and training that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Knowledge of civil engineering basics including sheet organization, topographical data, scales, and coordinate systems.
• Experience developing and working with grading plans, cross-sections, alignments, profiles, three-dimensional surfaces, and earthwork volumes for landfills and other large civil design projects.
• Experience using/incorporating land or aerial surveying/mapping data and files.
• Experience with stormwater management is a plus.
• Experience using the latest releases of Autodesk AutoCAD is required .
  • Experience in Civil3d is preferred.
• Strong reasoning, mathematical, and geometrical skills.
• Ability to perform basic math skills including applying concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations, and fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret red line drawings from Engineers, CAD Managers, or others on the project team.
• Strong communication skills to include the ability to understand and follow complex verbal and written instructions, and the ability to interact effectively to maintain a team environment.
• Ability to provide status updates independently.
