Base pay range

$55,000.00/yr - $75,000.00/yr

Job Description:

Under the direction of a supervisor/mentor(s), the CAD Technician will perform CAD design services in a team-oriented environment. Project emphasis is transportation engineering design for both public and private sectors, ranging from small to multimillion-dollar designs. Services are provided to clients including state DOTs and other governmental agencies—municipal, county, and state.

Qualified applicants should have an interest in pursuing a career in transportation, bridge, highway, or traffic design.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Create and modify high-quality civil engineering drawings and exhibits; perform calculations; prepare maps; produce drawings and data for input into an Engineering Database and GIS.
• Apply advanced modeling techniques to develop and modify complex 2D and 3D models using various CAD software programs.
• Work collaboratively to deliver quality designs that adhere to project budgets and schedules.
• Ensure drawings comply with industry standards and conduct quality control reviews on project drawings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Knowledge/Qualifications, Skills & Abilities:

• Associate's or bachelor's degree in drafting technology or related field.
• Completion of at least one drafting class (AutoCAD or Microstation preferred).
• Strong verbal, written, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Excel and other office software.

Preferred Experience:

• Drafting experience using AutoCAD and/or Bentley Microstation.
• Experience with Civil 3D and/or Geopak SS2/SS4/ORD for grading or cross-section design.
• Experience with Microsoft VISIO for schematic drawings.
• Experience with terrain models or surfaces.

Physical Qualifications:

• Ability to sit at a desk and use a computer for extended periods.
• Sufficient visual ability to focus on electronic documents and software.
