Job summary

Volkert Inc. is seeking a Junior and Senior level CAD Technician for our Southwest Region, supporting operations in various Texas cities including Tyler. The successful candidate will take part in geometric design projects and collaborate closely with engineers using OpenRoads Designer.

The role demands coordination of project tasks, quality control, and assistance in mathematical calculations. Applicants should hold at least an associate degree and have experience in OpenRoads Designer, with 3-15 years of roadway drafting experience preferred. Job description

We are currently searching for a Junior level and Senior level CAD Technician to support our Southwest Region located in Austin, Houston, McKinney, Rockwall, Round Rock, San Antonio, or Tyler, TX.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordination and oversight of geometric design projects.

What you’ll be doing:

Provide assistance to engineers using OpenRoads Designer to create roadway plan sets and perform minor design work on roadway projects
Contribute to project production sheets by adding dimensions and laying out plans, title and detail sheets on production sets of plans
Prepare minor mathematical calculations and quantity calculations for roadway/bridge projects
Work with engineers to develop 3D models using both OpenRoads Designer
Research applicable design codes and guidelines to ensure design compliance
Research design options and documents findings
Coordinates assignments with project team and supervisor
Perform quality control reviews of design plans and calculations
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Be a team player and assist other groups as needed

What you need to have:

Associate degree from a technical or four-year school
Experience in OpenRoads Designer
3-15 years of prior experience with roadway drafting
Under 3 years experience will be evaluated if applicant has a degree in Computer Aided Drafting or similar field
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
