We are seeking a CAD Technician to support a leading automotive manufacturing operation in Princeton, Indiana. This position will support digital manufacturing initiatives within Final Assembly Production Engineering, with a focus on improving manufacturing preparation for new vehicle model introductions.
The ideal candidate has strong CAD and 3D modeling skills and is comfortable working with digital manufacturing tools, simulations, layouts, and engineering data.
Support project planning for upcoming vehicle model changes
Perform 3D studies, simulations, FEA, and layout updates
Support 3D assembly management and digital manufacturing initiatives
Manage and analyze vehicle assembly engineering data
Develop and update CAD models and manufacturing layouts
Support simultaneous engineering activities for vehicle assembly
Utilize digital tools including AutoCAD, CATIA, SolidWorks, Inventor, Navisworks, 3D printing, and 3D scanning
Collaborate with internal engineering teams, manufacturing facilities, and external support groups
Support shop-floor activities as required
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology, Computer Integrated Technology, CAD, or a related field
2+ years of relevant experience; candidates with strong hands‑on experience coming directly out of school may also be considered
Proficiency with AutoCAD
Experience with CATIA, SolidWorks, and/or Inventor
Strong 3D modeling and/or simulation experience
Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
Strong understanding of drafting techniques and engineering terminology
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 20%
Valid driving record meeting company requirements
Experience with 3D printing
Familiarity with 3D scanning technologies
FEA experience or certification
CAD certification
3D modeling or simulation certification
Automotive or manufacturing environment experience
This is an onsite, shop-floor-supported position in Princeton, Indiana. Some travel may be required after approximately three months, primarily domestic with occasional international travel to Japan for meetings and observations.
Steel‑toed shoes are required. Additional PPE will be provided.
