Job summary

RealREPP is seeking a CAD Technician to join our team for heavy civil and heavy industrial projects in the gulf region. The role is office-based with occasional regional travel.

The candidate will perform CAD/modeling, earthwork calculations, and prepare heat maps using Civil 3D and AutoCAD, under the supervision of a Licensed Civil Engineer. Experience with land development and detail-oriented drafting are essential for success.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience with AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D.
• HS Diploma or GED.
• Prior experience with land development projects.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to prepare conceptual designs utilizing Google Earth, AutoCAD and Civil 3D as appropriate.
• Ability to calculate earthwork, grading, paving, utility, and concrete-related quantity takeoffs.

Responsibilities

• Support heavy civil and heavy industrial construction operations through surveying, field layout, CAD/modeling, quantity takeoff, and data management.
• Generate earthwork models and use Civil 3D tools for quantity calculations and heat maps.
• Produce improvement plans and drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D under a Licensed Civil Engineer.
• Review engineering data to ensure conformance with design concepts.
• Draft plan and profile views for streets, drainage, and underground improvements.
• Finish and duplicate drawings and documentation packages per reproduction specs.

Job description

The selected CAD Technician will be a key addition to the team for heavy civil and heavy industrial projects in the gulf region. This position is primarily in the office, with some occasional regional travel.

Key Responsibilities

• Support heavy civil and heavy industrial construction operations through a combination of construction surveying, field layout, CAD/modeling, quantity takeoff, and machine control data management.
• Generate earthwork models and utilize Civil 3D tools to perform quantity calculations and prepare “heat maps” depicting areas of deep cut and/or fill.
• Produce improvement plans, exhibits and drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D, working under the direction of a Licensed Civil Engineer.
• Review rough sketches, drawings, specifications, and other engineering data received from civil engineers to ensure that they conform to design concepts.
• Grading, Drainage and Utility design
• Draft plan and profile views of improvement plans, such as street, storm drain, and other underground improvements, using smart labels, and other methods.
• Finish and duplicate drawings and documentation packages, according to required mediums and specifications for reproduction using blueprinting, photography, or other duplicating methods.

Qualifications

• Prior experience with land development projects
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to prepare conceptual designs utilizing a combination or Google Earth, AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D as appropriate
• Ability to calculate earthwork, grading, paving, utility, and concrete-related quantity takeoffsStrong math and problem-solving skills
• Understand the order of work and method of presentation, based on different drafting requirements for each agency
• Prior survey experience is a PLUS
