We are currently searching for a Junior level and Senior level CAD Technician to support our Southwest Region located in Texas.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordination and oversight of geometric design projects.

What you’ll be doing:

1. Provide assistance to engineers using MicroStation to create bridge detail plans and perform minor design work on bridge projects.
2. Provide assistance to engineers using MicroStation/Autocad Civil 3D to create roadway plan sets and perform minor design work on roadway projects.
3. Contribute to project production sheets by adding dimensions and laying out plans, title and detail sheets on production sets of plans.
4. Prepare minor mathematical calculations and quantity calculations for roadway/bridge projects.
5. Work with engineers to develop 3D models using both Open Road Designer and Open Bridge Designer.
6. Research applicable design codes and guidelines to ensure design compliance.
7. Research design options and document findings.
8. Coordinate assignments with project team and supervisor.
9. Perform quality control reviews of design plans and calculations.
10. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
11. Be a team player and assist other groups as needed.

What you need to have:

1. Associate degree from a technical or four-year school.
2. 3-15 years of prior experience with structural and/or roadway drafting.
3. Under 3 years experience will be evaluated if applicant has a degree in Computer Aided Drafting or similar field.
4. Degree in Computer Aided Drafting or similar field is preferred.
5. Familiar with GEOPAK or other geometry software.
6. Familiar with TxDOT Bridge Detailing Manual and applicable bridge standards preferred.
7. Experience in Open Road Designer is preferred.
8. Experience in Autodesk Civil 3D is a plus.
9. Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a team environment.
10. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines.
11. Valid driver’s license.
12. A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR).
