Job summary

Packrite, LLC, a packaging solutions provider, is seeking a CAD Technician to develop new structural designs and review customer supplied designs for manufacturability. You will provide cost-efficient die-imposition layouts for pricing and facilitate prototypes for customer and manufacturing approvals.

Essential functions include creating detailed layouts for quoting, coordinating with customers and vendors on new designs, and ensuring machinability in production.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Read, write, and communicate effectively with others.
  • Create new designs and review customer provided designs to meet manufacturing requirements.
  • Create detailed layouts for quoting and die tooling orders.
  • Collaborate with customers and vendors on new designs.
  • Ensure designs are machinable in manufacturing.
  • Produce samples and mockups using various techniques and tools such as cutting tables.
  • Lead Pre-Production meetings with project management, purchasing, and manufacturing.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Summary/Objective

The CAD Technician develops new structural designs, reviews customer supplied designs and supplies cost efficient die imposition layouts to estimating for pricing that meet manufacturing requirements. Provides prototypes to customers and manufacturing for approvals.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  7. Produce samples and mockups using various techniques and skills such as cutting tables (Kongsberg Table).
  8. Able to work independently as well as on a team and efficiently schedule and manage time.
  9. Ability to learn and understand machine capabilities.
  10. Lead Pre-Production meetings with Project management, Purchasing and Manufacturing.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but should serve as a coach and resource to other departments.

Work Environment

This job operates in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. The passage of employees through the work area is average and normal. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and fork-lift vehicles.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job: regularly standing, walking, climbing, bending, lifting, pushing/pulling, grasping, reaching at, below or above shoulder level, repetitive use of hands/fingers, visual and/or auditory requirements. Frequently handling up to 25 lbs. of weight, and occasionally 25 to 50 lbs. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and fork-lift vehicles.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work/Other Duties

This is a full-time position with minimal flexibility in work schedules/hours, but the employee should generally be available during the "core" work hours and for an 8-hour shift and must agree to variation in work schedules/hours, all duties as assigned, and all overtime. Education and Experience
  1. A college degree or certificate in a related field is highly desired. High school graduate or GED with technical schooling in computer-aided design (CAD) is a minimum requirement.
