Job summary

Colonial Group seeks a CAD Designer/ Drafter to create designs and drawings from client orders, selection sheets, or design manager concepts. You will collaborate with outside sales and customers to ensure accurate, safe structures and code-compliant designs.

The role emphasizes preparation of layouts, detailed design drawings, and technical descriptions, with emphasis on quality control and continuous improvement. On-site role with direct client contact and team collaboration.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent from a technical program.
• Prefer PrimeCad, MS Word, MS Excel, and AutoCAD experience.
• Strong ability to read and interpret technical information and documents.
• Effective written and verbal communication with clients and team members.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with outside sales and customers to complete structures safely and accurately.
• Ensure stability, deflection and load carries meet applicable codes.
• Follow quality control procedures for design standards and compliance.
• Consult with clients and staff to prepare design modifications as needed.
• Develop design details from concepts and prepare layouts.
• Create rough sketches or arrange finished drawings to illustrate materials and sequences.
• Describe materials and properties in technical descriptions.
• Review designs for efficient use of inventory, equipment, and labor.
• Support continuous improvement and quality initiatives.
