Job summary

Proactive Technical Limited in Novi, Michigan, seeks a Mechanical Design / CAD Supervisor to lead a small engineering team responsible for mechanical drawings and designs for automated material handling systems.

The role focuses on CAD standards, design automation, and continuous improvement, reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Program Manager. Requires 5+ years in lead design and supervisory experience within industrial equipment."

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
5+ years' experience in lead mechanical design and/or estimating industrial equipment.
5+ years' supervisory experience leading engineering teams across projects.
Experience in material handling, conveyor systems, robotics, automation or industrial equipment.
Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD, Inventor and Revit.

Responsibilities

Lead and develop a team of 3–8 Mechanical Engineers.
Allocate engineering resources across multiple projects.
Oversee drawings and designs for automated material handling systems.
Ensure deliverables meet schedules, specs and quality standards.
Develop and maintain CAD standards, drawings, blocks and tools.
Manage CAD database integrity, revision control and change processes.
Develop workflows and checklists for design processes.
Drive standardisation and productivity improvements.
Collaborate with Project Engineers, manufacturing facilities, vendors and other departments.
Support training and technical progression within the team.
Drive adoption of new engineering technologies and design methodologies.
