Job summary

David Yurman is seeking a CAD 3 Designer in Tribeca, NY. You will translate sketches into jewelry-ready CAD models using Rhino, driving intermediate to advanced pieces from concept to production.

Responsibilities include creating complex forms, detailing stone settings, and validating files for hinges and clasps, with guidance from the CAD Engineering Team. A BA/BS in Design or equivalent jewelry industry experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5-7 years of CAD experience specific to jewelry.
• Proficient in creating solid, workable polysurface files for jewelry construction.
• Experience with modifying and repairing mesh objects; understanding of mechanisms like hinges and clasps.

Responsibilities

• Create intermediate pieces from start to finish with limited supervision and understand team processes and aesthetics fluently.
• Create more complex projects and forms with less-detailed direction and limited supervision.
• Knowledge to create stone settings and ensure file setup for mechanisms such as clasps and hinges.
• Provide input on timelines and translate design concepts into physical pieces within project time frames.
• Review Vendor CAD files for visual viability and provide concise aesthetic feedback to strategic partners.

Responsible for execution of designs while adhering to functional and aesthetic objectives.ResponsibilitiesCreate intermediate pieces from start to finish with limited supervision and understand team processes and aesthetics fluently.Create more complex projects and forms with less-detailed direction and limited supervision.Knowledge and ability to create stone settings and ensure file is set up properly for mechanisms such as claps, connections, linkages with guided supervision from CAD Engineering Team.Provide input on timelines to completion; translate design concept into a physical piece within established project time frame.Provide input and suggestions on workflow techniques in CAD.Review Vendor CAD files for visual viability and provide concise aesthetic feedback to strategic partners.QualificationsMinimum 5-7 years of CAD experience specific to jewelry.Must have knowledge of complex jewelry construction as well as precious and non-precious metal properties.Must be proficient in creating solid, workable polysurface files.Experienced with modifying and repairing mesh objects.Must have working knowledge of mechanisms such as hinges and clasps.Experience with rapid prototyping machines are a plus.Computer Skills: Proficient in Rhino CAD software.Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
