Job summary

Intel Corporation in Hillsboro, Oregon, is seeking a CAD/EDA Tools Automation Engineer to join the Foundry Technology Manufacturing team.

You will design, test, and automate toolchains for physical design, place and route, and DRC workflows, collaborating with design, process, and manufacturing teams to improve methodologies and reliability.

Minimum qualifications include MS in a related field, 6+ months of Python/Tcl/C++, and Linux/EDA tools experience; PhD is a plus. Hybrid work model offered.

Intel's Foundry Technology Manufacturing (FTM) is seeking a talented and motivated CAD/EDA Tools Automation Engineer to join our growing engineering team.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and debug software tools, flows, and methodologies used in design automation environments.
  • Capture user stories and requirements from internal stakeholders and translate them into actionable technical solutions.
  • Write both functional and test code to ensure high-quality, maintainable software deliverables.
  • Automate build and deployment pipelines to streamline tool delivery and updates.
  • Perform unit, integration, and end-to-end testing of software tools to validate functionality and reliability.
  • Develop and maintain scripts and automation frameworks to support physical design, place and route, and DRC verification workflows.
  • Collaborate with hardware design, process design, and manufacturing teams to identify automation opportunities and improve design methodologies.
  • Support the administration, deployment, and maintenance of CAD software and EDA tool infrastructure.
  • Develop job management tools on distributed computing systems to optimize resource utilization and workflow efficiency.
  • Standardize and document processes through workflows, templates, and reusable automation components.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of software development best practices.
Qualifications

The Minimum qualifications listed below are required to be initially considered for this position. Minimum qualifications listed below would be obtained through a combination of industry relevant job experience, internship experience and / or schoolwork/classes/research. The preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Candidates must have the required degree by the date of hire.

  • Master of Science degree, in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or in a related STEM field.
  • 6+ months of experience in the following: Solid programming and scripting languages such as Python, Tcl, or C++.
  • Experience working on Linux environments, version management systems and EDA Tools.
Preferred qualifications
  • Ph.D. degree, in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or in a related STEM field.
  • 12+ months of experience in the following: Industry-standard EDA tools such as Cadence Virtuoso, Synopsys ICV, Siemens Calibre for use in physical design, place and route scripts, and DRC verification.
  • Development of job management tools on distributed computing systems.
  • Automate processes whether standardized through workflows, templates, and other means.
  • Knowledge of CAD software administration and deployment.
