Job summary

H2O Innovation’s Water Infrastructure Development group is seeking a detail-oriented CAD Drafting Technician to support planning and design of civil and water infrastructure projects. You will produce high-quality drawings and models for water, wastewater, and stormwater systems, collaborating with engineers and project managers to translate concepts into constructible plans.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Relevant years of CAD drafting experience in civil engineering or utility infrastructure.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD (required)
• Civil 3D (strongly preferred)
• Experience preparing plan/profile sheets and utility layouts
• Strong understanding of basic civil engineering concepts (grading, utilities, alignments)
• Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, specifications, and standards
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality

Responsibilities

• Develop and modify CAD drawings for civil infrastructure projects, including: Water distribution systems, Wastewater collection systems, Pump stations and treatment facilities, Stormwater management systems
• Prepare plan sets, profiles, details, and sections for permitting and construction
• Assist with layout of pipelines, grading, utility coordination, and site development plans
• Maintain drawing standards, templates, and layer management in accordance with company and client requirements
• Coordinate with engineers to incorporate design revisions and redlines
• Compile drawing packages for submittals, permitting agencies, and bid documents
• Support quantity takeoffs and basic design calculations as needed
• Organise and manage project files within CAD/BIM environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with water/wastewater infrastructure projects;
• Familiarity with:
  • GIS integration (ArcGIS or QGIS) ;
  • BIM workflows (Revit, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Navisworks, or similar);
• Knowledge of local/state permitting requirements and utility standards;
• Experience working with survey data and surfaces in Civil 3D;
• Exposure to hydraulic profiles or process layouts is a plus.
