Job summary

Suncast Corporation is seeking a CAD Drafter to support the design engineering team with 2D drafting and documentation tasks, taking on lower-complexity drawings and administrative work to allow engineers to focus on higher-value projects.

The role involves creating and updating drawings from 3D models, maintaining standards and file control in the PDM system, and assisting with ECOs/ECNs, BOMs, and drawing packages for prototypes and development activities.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Drafting or a related technical field is required.
• Working knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD software, with SolidWorks experience preferred.
• Ability to read, interpret, and work from engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Create and update accurate 2D production drawings based on 3D models and engineering design information provided by engineers.
• Incorporate redline markups and revisions into drawings, ensuring changes are documented and maintained.
• Maintain compliance with drafting standards, formats, title blocks, and file management in the PDM system.
• Ensure released drawings are organized, version-controlled, and accessible to support manufacturing and engineering.
• Support design engineers with part-number creation, BOM entry and maintenance, and CAD file organization.
• Assist with ECOs/ECNs and related engineering documentation.
• Prepare and organize drawing packages, specifications for prototype builds and product development.
• Collaborate with engineers to ensure documentation accuracy and alignment with project schedules.
• Maintain drawing/CAD/document libraries for efficient retrieval and control.
• Update project trackers, checklists, and status reports for visibility of drafting activity.
• Perform preliminary quality checks of drawings to verify completeness and formatting.
• Support continuous improvement of drafting/documentation processes and data accuracy.
• Adhere to Suncast safety policies, quality standards, and housekeeping practices.
• Perform additional duties as required.
