Job summary

Dometic is seeking a CAD Drafter in Port St. Lucie, FL to document diagrams, schematics, layouts and multi-view drawings using CAD tools.

You will support product verification and manufacturing preparation for new or changed products within a global team. Qualifications include an associate degree in CAD, 2+ years drafting/manufacturing experience, and proficiency in SolidWorks/AutoCAD with strong MS Office skills.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in CAD and design with minimum of 2 years’ experience; bachelor’s degree (preferred)
• Course work in drafting technology or specialized CAD certification, or equivalent work experience
• Proven skills using SolidWorks, AutoCAD
• 2-5 years previous work experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
• Must be able to create drawings per recognized drafting and design standards (ASTM, NTMA, Mil Spec)
• Proficiency in computer aided drafting
• Strong proficiency with MS Office programs including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint; ability to learn other applications quickly
• Familiar with PPAP processes
• Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
• Understand, speak, and read English fluently
• Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods, lift up to 15 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare drawings and revise existing drawings from instructions or sketches
• Work in cross-functional teams including program management and design
• Follow drafting standards and procedures
• Calibrate prototypes and fixtures, including 3D printing
• Use calipers, micrometers and angle gauges to verify part compliance
• Participate in design reviews of test systems and plans
• Assist with ISO compliance to ensure high quality delivery
• Support test technicians in verification of products
• Assist manufacturing in developing fixtures
• Document management and work instructions

We are on a journey of continuous growth – now looking for our next star – a passionate CAD Drafter. This position reports to the Engineering Manager and will work in Port St Lucie, FL.

As CAD Drafter of the Port St Lucie team, you will be involved in documenting diagrams, schematics, layouts, multi-view, and various engineering drawings using computer aided drafting systems. The CAD drafter also supports product verification and manufacturing preparation for new or changed products.

Your Main Responsibilities

• Prepare drawings, and revise existing drawings, from explicit verbal or written instructions or detailed sketches
• Work in multi-function new product development teams, including program/product management, product design, manufacturing engineering, supply chain management and operations
• Follows company and client drafting standards and procedures
• Calibrate prototypes and fixtures that may involve 3D printing
• Use measurement equipment (Calipers, Micrometers, Angle gauge, etc) to define and verify part compliance
• Participate in design reviews of test systems and plans
• Assist as needed with ISO compliance to ensure the product will be delivered with the highest quality to customers
• Assist test techinicans to verify products
• Assist manufacturing team to develop manufacturing and test fixturesDocument management, work instructions
• Other duties as assigned to assist in other areas and departments as needed in obtaining the goals and objectives of Dometic

Skills & Requirements

A suitable background would be a solid experience within drafting and manufacturing as well as the following qualifications and experiences:

• Associate's degree in computer aided drafting and design with minimum of 2 years’ experience, bachelor’s degree (preferred)
• Course work in drafting technology or specialized CAD certification, or equivalent work experience
• Proven skills using SolidWorks, AutoCAD
• 2-5 years previous work experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment

• Proficiency in computer aided drafting

• Geometric dimensioning and Tolerancing
• Understand, speak, and read English fluently
• Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time, lift up to 15 lbs. and perform other basic physical demands of the position as needed
