Job summary

UES is seeking a CAD Drafter to create accurate technical drawings and plans using AutoCAD and other CAD tools. This role supports geotechnical and environmental projects across our offices, requiring attention to detail and the ability to work with engineers.

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in CAD/engineering or a related field, has 3+ years of drafting experience, and can manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Aided Design, Architecture, Engineering or relevant field.
• 3+ years’ experience as a CAD Drafter or similar role.
• Familiarity with 3D modeling tools and computer-aided design software, like AutoCAD.
• Strong attention to detail and mathematical skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Understanding of architectural and construction design.
• Excellent technical drawing skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare project drawings for Geotechnical and Environmental projects, including Geotechnical Explorations, Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, Soil and Groundwater Assessments, and Preliminary Contamination Assessments and/or Monitoring
• Manage prepared drawings for active projects, and filing of prepared drawings for issued projects
• Drafts designs utilizing computer-aided drafting systems to prepare drawings and designs.
• Converse with engineers and other subject matter experts to interpret design concepts, determine nature and type of required detailed working drawings, and coordinate work with others.
• Convert rough sketches and specifications into detailed drawings and plans
• Perform calculations, measurements, and estimations to support the drafting process
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations in the preparation of drawings
• Conduct quality checks on drawings to verify accuracy, completeness, and adherence to standards
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues and provide support during the construction phase.

Travel Requirements

• This position does not require regular travel as part of its primary responsibilities. However, occasional travel may be required, up to 10%, primarily for occasional off-site meetings, training sessions, or company events. Travel, when necessary, will be communicated in advance and aligned with business needs

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• This position primarily operates in a professional office environment, requiring the ability to work at a desk for extended periods while using a computer, phone, and standard office equipment.
• The position involves sitting for extended periods, performing data entry, and engaging in frequent communication via email, phone, and in-person interactions.
• The role involves regular communication with team members, clients, and stakeholders, both in person and through virtual platforms.
• The physical demands of the job may include occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting office materials up to 15 pounds
