Job summary

Champion Home Builders Inc. in Athens, TX is seeking a CAD Drafter / Residential Design Specialist to turn concepts into construction-ready plans for high-quality homes.

You will create detailed drawings from sketches and specifications and collaborate with Sales, Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to ensure designs are buildable. The ideal candidate has an associate degree or equivalent experience, 2–5 years of AutoCAD drafting, and strong knowledge of residential and commercial codes.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Drafting, Design Technology, Architecture, Engineering Technology, or related field, OR equivalent professional experience.
• 2-5 years of AutoCAD drafting experience.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD.
• Strong knowledge of residential and commercial construction methods and building codes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed construction drawings from sketches, customer requirements, specifications, and engineering data.
• Develop floor plans, elevations, roof systems, plumbing layouts, electrical plans, HVAC duct layouts, cabinetry details, and other construction documents.
• Utilize AutoCAD and other design software to create accurate and code-compliant drawings.
• Collaborate closely with Sales, Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to ensure designs are functional and buildable.
• Modify and optimize home layouts and building systems to meet customer needs and manufacturing requirements.
• Prepare design calculations and analyses using approved software tools.
• Submit drawings and documentation to third-party agencies for approvals.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable residential and commercial building codes.
• Help solve design challenges and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications
