Job summary

Dayton Superior is seeking a detailer/drafter to work on on-site projects in the Utah area. You will detail materials and components from contractor drawings using AutoCAD, prepare layouts, and ensure plans meet specifications.

You will engage with customers to confirm scope, review drawings, and distribute final detail plans. The role includes updating project status in the management system and performing related duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Technical certification or associate degree may be required in some areas.
• Generally 5-7 years of experience in a related area of responsibility.
• Drafting or construction background preferred.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities And Key Accountabilities

• Details required material/components using AutoCAD or other method. Prepares layouts according to specifications.

Nature and Scope

• May modify processes to resolve situations.
• Under limited supervision, relies on experience and exercises independent judgment to determine the best approach to achieve desired outcomes. Course of action is often determined by interpreting procedures and policies. Work typically involves periodic review of output by a supervisor or direct customers of the process.
• Is sought out and/or assigned to provide general guidance/direction, training, and technical assistance to junior level support personnel. Contributes to employees' professional development but does not have hiring/firing authority.

Work Environment

• Typically located in a comfortable indoor area. There may be regular exposure to mild physical discomfort from factors, such as dust, fumes or odors, temperature extremes, loud noise, strong drafts, or bright lights.
• Most of the time is spent sitting or standing in the same location and/or there may be a need to stoop regularly or move/lift light material or equipment (typically less than 8 pounds).
• Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education And Experience

• Technical certification or associate degree may be required in some areas. Generally 5-7 years of experience in a related area of responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certificate of completion in drafting, industrial drafting/design, or construction from a technical school and/or college/university.
• Work experience in construction, manufacturing, fabrication or drafting.
• Engineering background preferred.
