Job Summary

As a Structural Steel Detailer / CAD Drafter you will create structural steel framing plans, sections, and detailed fabrication drawings for complex commercial, institutional, industrial, and renovation projects in a fast‑paced project environment.

Location & Employment

North Shore area of Massachusetts (Onsite)

Full‑time; Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM ET; Start ASAP; No travel required; Relocation assistance available; Sponsorship not available.

Compensation & Benefits

Base pay range: $70,000–$85,000 per year, plus bi‑annual bonuses.

Responsibilities

• Create steel framing plans, sections, and details from concept to release.
• Model structural steel in 3D to drive shop and erection drawings.
• Detail beams, columns, connections, loads, and miscellaneous metals.
• Coordinate with PMs and engineers to resolve connection failures.
• Translate contract documents into clear, buildable shop details.
• Develop foundation/CMU/metal stud plans aligned to steel frames.
• Address renovation field changes with practical, safe solutions.
• Check drawings for accuracy, fit, and constructability.
• Maintain organized files, revisions, and issue logs.
• Support a collaborative, team‑first detailing culture.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of steel detailing experience required.
• Strong AutoCAD skills and experience with 2D and 3D detailing tools.
• 3D drafting/modeling experience required.
• Sound judgment about how steel gets built and ability to apply math and trigonometry confidently.
