Job summary

Donaldson is seeking an Engineering Designer to convert engineers' sketches into precise CAD drawings and prepare production-ready documents. You will support CAD workflows, ensure alignment with specifications, and contribute to developing and reviewing design concepts.

The role emphasizes collaboration within a team, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt drawings for manufacturing needs, including handling design changes and documentation across project phases.

Qualifications

• Proficient in SolidWorks
• Basic understanding of technical drawings (blueprints, production schematics, etc.)
• Microsoft Office proficiency for documentation and communication

Responsibilities

• Communicates product designs through drawings, specifications and other related documents.
• Converts engineers' and technicians' rough product design sketches into working documents by digitizing with computer aided design (CAD) to enable a CAD operator to complete related computer entry.
• Develops and designs drawings to fulfill technical objectives consistent with established guidelines, customer requirements and design specifications.
• Provides input to alternative product and system designs as required.
• Initiates and completes Engineering Change Order Procedures.
• Reviews design alternatives as applied to product systems, products or parts development and provides input to design changes which meet production capabilities at favorable costs.
• May participate in planning and scheduling of design and drafting projects.
• Participates in all phases of project pre-design (feasibility) through fabrication, including manufacturing reviews.
• Provides support on CAD hardware and software issues and works closely with IT on CAD system issues/problems as required.
• Prepares or assists in preparation of product instruction manuals and engineering standards as required.
• May assist with prototype modification and testing of samples.
• Duties and tasks are frequently nonroutine.
• Resolves most questions and problems and refers only the most complex issues to higher level employees.
• May adapt procedures, process, tools, equipment and techniques to meet the more complex requirements of the position.

Minimum Qualifications

• Proficient in SolidWorks
• Proficient with computers, including Microsoft Office Suite
• Basic understanding of technical drawings (blueprints, production schematics etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with NX package a plus.
• Experience working with larger assembly with many components.
• Goal oriented and some experience working in a deadline driven environment.
• Understanding of industry accepted design standards.
• Attention to detail and the ability to conceptualize design concepts based on design requirements
