JOB SUMMARY:
Overall Summary of Function Blueprint Studios is looking for an experienced CAD Designer who knows how live events actually work. We need someone who can move fast without sacrificing accuracy — a designer who can take a venue plan, client brief, sales notes, or marked-up PDF and quickly turn it into a clear, functional, production-ready event floor plan.
This is not purely an architectural drafting position. You need to understand events, people flow, furniture, scenic elements, registration, exhibits, production logistics, fire/life-safety requirements, and how a drawing translates into an event that has to be installed and operated in the real world. The CAD Designer provides accurately scaled drafted floor plans and CAD’s for a variety of event design needs. Appropriate layout of furnishings to allow for proper function and flow in support of special events, trade shows, conferences, and more!
This is an in-office position in Las Vegas.
Provides technical drawings for events as requested and in collaboration with account managers or other team members
Collaborates with other team members, account managers, program coordinators and other production team members to provide product counts on floorplan keys and spreadsheets for accuracy on the overall space layout.
Provides suggestions or solutions to space planning utilizing AutoCAD
Develops and modifies existing layouts from established events
Ability to work accurately from PDFs, field measurements and incomplete source information.
Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously while priorities and information change quickly.
A strong communicator who can work directly with account managers, designers, production teams, vendors and occasionally clients.
Works daily with Art Director and Sales Account Managers to assist in floor plan creation
Helps build the object Cad library as new furniture is brought into inventory.
Maintains database of all blank and specialized floor plans, venues and current object library
Field measures onsite for new facilities and remodeled facilities as needed to generate, verify or maintain AutoCAD files with current accuracy.
Communicates with fire marshal to properly submit drawings in time and as needed
Communicates with other 3rd. Party vendors when needed for the layout of carpet, power, rigging, catering needs, and other utility/services
Maintains familiarity with V-Series modular system and custom build design.
Assists with the development of the V- Series library in collaboration with other team members
Assists with the creating breakdowns of V-Series components based on available product as well as with simple structure drawings
Develops layout concepts from client notes and Sale’s PW’s.
Participates in client meetings to support the technical conversations.
Ability to manage rapid revisions and multiple simultaneous projects.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture or related field.
5+ years experience, preferably within the event industry.
Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD with latest AI updates.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
Working knowledge of event fire/life-safety and egress requirements
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet strict deadlines
Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work independently or as part of a team
Willingness to travel as needed for site visits and event execution
