Job summary

Daikin Applied is seeking a Designer III to develop parts and assemblies, create production drawings, and manage BOMs from concept to manufacturing documentation to ensure quality, manufacturability, functionality, serviceability, and cost control. The role supports cross-functional teams and collaborates with Marketing/Sales to meet weekly production schedules.

The position offers a hybrid work arrangement in Staunton, VA or Plymouth, MN, with 3–4 days in the office.

Qualifications

• 4–6 years related design experience.
• Experience in sheet metal design and/or HVAC products is desirable.
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Create engineering documentation including SolidWorks, modeling, fabrication and purchase drawings.
• Translate engineering/marketing intent into manufacturing documentation.
• Collaborate with Marketing/Sales to provide documentation for original designs or modifications to meet production schedules.
• Demonstrate design thinking, accuracy, and cost effectiveness.
• Work within time frames and use judgment to set goals.
• Learn design and manufacturing practices and Daikin product structures.
• Be part of cross-functional teams.

Location

Staunton, VA, or Plymouth, MN – Hybrid, 3-4 days in office

Your Responsibilities

• Create engineering documentation including Solidworks, modeling, fabrication and purchase drawings that conform to Daikin standards.
• Translate engineering/marketing intent into manufacturing documentation.
• Work with Marketing/Sales to provide documentation for original designs or custom modifications of current products to meet weekly production schedules.
• Exhibit a sense of design and mechanical aptitude with abstract thinking and reasoning skills.
• Demonstrate creative ability, accuracy, and cost effectiveness.
• Complete work assignments within determined time frame and use judgment in determining assignment goals.
• Gain knowledge of design and manufacturing practices, processes, and Daikin products.
• Demonstrate an understanding of legacy bill of material systems and product structuring logic.
• Be part of and function in a team environment including cross functional and inter-departmental teams.

Your Qualifications

• Vocational or Technical Degree in Design/Drafting or Equivalent Experience
• 4-6 years related design experience
• Experience in sheet metal design and/or HVAC products is desired.
• Ability to travel (10% or less of the time)

The typical annual base salary for this position ranges from $31.73 - $52.29 USD per hour in VA. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade in which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
