Job summary

IKM Building Solutions, Inc. in Madison, WI is seeking a CAD Designer I to create accurate technical drawings and documentation that support manufacturing and installation projects.

You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and senior designers to turn engineering concepts into detailed designs. The role requires at least 2 years of drafting experience and strong CAD skills in AutoCAD and Revit.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of drafting experience.
• Understanding of mechanical engineering principles and their practical application.
• Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, structural steel components, and utility piping systems.
• Experience using computer-aided design software.

Responsibilities

• Create and deliver CAD drawings according to project specifications and deadlines.
• Develop drawings from sketches, redlined markups, customer-provided drawings, and electronic files.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and internal departments to ensure drawings are accurate and error-free.
• Prepare detailed technical drawings for manufacturing and installation, including fabrication, installation, foundation, and elevation drawings.
• Calculate dimensions, angles, and other technical details required for engineered designs.
• Create supporting documentation such as bills of material and installation sequences.
• Interpret customer, company, and government drawings and specifications.
• Participate in project and department meetings.
• Assist with field activities as needed.
