Job summary

HIGHRIDGE Inc. seeks a CAD Designer to create and revise detailed 3D models and drawings for orthopedic implants. You will ensure designs are manufacturable and compliant, coordinating with surgeons and cross-functional teams to translate concepts into commercial products.

Ideal candidates have SolidWorks expertise, GD&T proficiency, and a track record of delivering multi-project designs in a regulated medical device environment. Some travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Two year technical degree or equivalent education/experience.
  • 3+ years of product design experience, preferably in Orthopedic devices.
  • Strong CAD and drafting standards knowledge (GD&T).

Responsibilities

  • Design new orthopedic implants and instruments from concept to launch.
  • Create and revise 3D models and engineering drawings in SolidWorks.
  • Ensure manufacturability, inspectability, and design traceability.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, marketing, regulatory and QA teams.

We are seeking a Senior CAD Designer responsible for creating and revising detailed drawings using 3-Dimensional modeling tools. The Designer is responsible for the integrity of the product, including models and engineering drawings, ensuring designs are suitable for manufacture, inspection, and translation to vendors. The Designer may be expected to interact directly with surgeons and cross-functional stakeholders such as Marketing, Regulatory, Quality, Testing, and Sales. In the role they should also demonstrate initiative, strong technical skills, and the ability to design mating components in implant and instrument systems. Occasional travel and mentoring of junior designers is expected. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: · Designs new products from conception to launch and modifies existing products while complying with procedures, standards, and Quality System Requirements.· Designs innovative, clinically driven solutions by anticipating surgical needs and transforms concepts into commercialized implant and instrument systems.· Ability to design mating components / assemblies and apply advanced tolerance analysis.· Generates CAD models and engineering drawings primarily within Solidworks. Organizes and archives data within a PDM system using best practices.· Designs complex mechanisms/instrumentation and implements advanced design principles.· Designs components for manufacturability, inspectability, and cost-effectiveness.· Participates in the creation and maintenance of Design History File documentation including Design Input/Output Traceability Matrices (DIOT), Risk Management Files (RMF), Design Transfer documentation, Process change documentation· Assists in identifying the impact of design changes under the guidance of engineering team· Ability to manage multiple projects throughout all states of the development process.· Prepares images for surgical technique guides and related marketing materials· Works simultaneously with development, manufacturing, tool and process engineers to create complex 3-D surfaced or solid models of orthopaedic implants, provisionals and instrumentation.This is not an exhaustive list of duties or functions and may not necessarily comprise all of the \"essential functions\" for purposes of the ADA. Expected Areas of Competence (i.e., knowledge, skills, and abilities) · Innovative in developing new designs. Ability to develop patentable features and designs.· Professional, concise, tactful, and effective in communications.· Strong written and verbal communication skills, including preparation and delivery of presentations tailored to technical and executive audiences· Advanced working knowledge of drafting standards and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T). Ability to perform advanced tolerance analysis.· Ability to perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and other engineering studies preferred· Demonstrated ability to ensure product and process compliance with applicable Quality Assurance and Regulatory requirements in the medical device industry· Ability to manage and set priorities for multiple complex projects and deliverables concurrently· Expertise in CAD design and engineering drawings, preferably using SolidWorks, with an emphasis on design for manufacturability and system integration· Adapts quickly to new technologies· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and MS Project, with experience in reporting and tracking project metricsEducation/Experience Requirements · Two year technical degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.· 3+ years of experience product design, ideally in Orthopedic devices Travel RequirementsUp to 5% Salary Range $65,000.00 - 75,000.00 DOE
