Job summary

JWC Machine and Fab in Mobile, AL is seeking a CAD Designer or Drafter to support our engineering and production team. This role bridges customer requirements and the shop floor — creating, reviewing, and managing technical drawings and models that our machinists rely on to produce precision components.

The ideal candidate will have proficiency in CAD software, a solid understanding of GD&T, and experience drafting machined parts.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in CAD software and GD&T knowledge are required.
• Experience creating drawings for machined parts preferred; castings/weldments a plus.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and how parts are made is advantageous.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Drafting, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Create and revise 2D drawings and 3D models from customer specs, sketches, or verbal requirements.
• Ensure drawings include GD&T callouts, tolerances, materials, and finishes.
• Review drawings for manufacturability and flag concerns before production.
• Maintain organized drawing libraries and revision control per shop standards.
• Collaborate with machinists and supervisors to resolve interpretation questions.
• Support quoting with accurate drawing interpretations and dimensional analysis.
• Assist with process documentation, work instructions, and traveler creation.

We are growing deliberately, and every hire matters.**POSITION SUMMARY**JWC Machine and Fab is seeking a CAD Designer or Drafter to support our engineering and production team. This role bridges the gap between customer requirements and the shop floor — creating, reviewing, and managing technical drawings and models that our machinists rely on to produce precision components.
