Job summary

Elliott Equipment Company designs and manufactures truck-mounted aerial work platforms, boom truck cranes, and digger derricks, serving utility, sign and lighting, construction, and government markets. You will provide detailed drawings for fabrication and assembly, working with Engineering to design new products.

CAD software will be used to create layouts, detail drawings, diagrams and schematics for manufacture.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency with CAD software (Inventor and AutoCAD preferred).
  • Advanced math skills.
  • Basic understanding of welding, mechanics, electronics, and hydraulics.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • Prior ERP experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Creates and revises drawings for new and redesigned products and releases into production.
  • Collaborates with Engineers to define scope and purpose of new or redesigned products.
  • Researches materials and vendors for new and redesigned products.
  • Creates Bills of Materials for all drawings.
  • Checks dimensions and tolerances of parts and assemblies.
  • Applies knowledge of machining, engineering practices, math, and materials to complete designs.
  • Guides plant personnel with new assemblies and procedures.
  • Conducts follow-up inspections and tests of assemblies and procedures.
  • Creates drawings for customers and vendors as required.
  • Maintains an organized file system for production drawings.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Overall Summary

Responsible for providing detailed drawings for fabrication and assembly of company products and working with Engineering to design new products. Uses CAD software to provide support to Engineers by preparing layouts, detail drawings, assembly drawings, diagrams and schematics. Details to include all views and dimensions necessary for manufacture.

Essential Job Functions
  • Creates and revises drawings of new and redesigned products and releases into production.
  • Analyzes and discusses with Engineers the scope and purpose of new or redesigned products.
  • Conducts research of materials and vendors for new and redesigned products.
  • Creates Bills of Materials for all drawings.
  • Checks dimensions of parts, materials to be used, relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to whole structure or project.
  • Utilizes knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences to complete designs.
  • Assists and guides plant personnel with new or redesigned assemblies and procedures.
  • Conducts follow‑up inspections and operational tests of new or redesigned assemblies and procedures.
  • Creates drawings for customers and vendors as required.
  • Responsible for setting up and maintaining an organized file system for Production Drawings.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficiency with CAD software (Inventor and AutoCAD preferred).
  • Advanced math skills.
  • Possess basic understanding of welding, mechanics, electronics, and hydraulics. Ability to read and understand welding and hydraulic symbols is a plus.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously and complete projects on schedule.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Prior experience with ERP systems is a plus.
Education and Experience
  • Associate degree in mechanical drafting.
  • One to three years related job preferred.
  • Some engineering experience/exposure in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Physical Requirements

Must be able to read and write reports, memos, and other miscellaneous written correspondence and view computer screen.

Must be able to communicate verbally with callers, visitors and co-workers.

Must be able to sit continuously.

Must be able to finger, grasp and feel continuously.

Must be able to stoop and bend occasionally.

Must be able to walk and stand occasionally.

Working Conditions

Typical office working conditions. Occasionally exposed to heat/cold, dust, noise, and welding fumes when working in plant.
