Job summary

Kratos C5ISR in the United States is seeking a CAD Designer to translate engineering concepts into precise 2D drawings and 3D models for manufacturing and integration.

The role requires a 2-year degree (or equivalent) with 3–5 years CAD experience, proficiency in 2D/3D CAD tools such as Inventor and SolidWorks, and the ability to obtain security clearance.

Qualifications

• Two-year degree in Design, Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 3-5 years CAD design experience.
• Proficient in 2D CAD and 3D modeling.
• Experience with Inventor, Vault, SolidWorks and PDM preferred.
• NX, Creo, and CATIA are also acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Create and revise detailed 2D drawings and 3D CAD models based on engineering requirements, specs, and design concepts.
• Ensure drawings and models are accurate, complete, and compliant with standards; ready for manufacturing or implementation.
• Partner with engineers, designers, and stakeholders to clarify requirements and incorporate design changes.
• Maintain organized design documentation and handle sensitive information per gov't and company rules.
• Support CAD design for smaller projects or portions of larger projects to ensure quality and alignment.

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

A CAD Designer specializes in creating precise technical drawings and 3D models using computer-aided design (CAD) software. The Designer translates conceptual designs, engineering specifications, and sketches into detailed 3D models and 2D drawings essential for manufacturing, construction, and product development. They ensure that designs are accurate, compliant with industry standards, and ready for production or implementation. They bridge the gap between concepts and the final drawings needed to build or produce our products.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Create and revise detailed 2D drawings and 3D CAD models based on engineering requirements, specifications, and design concepts.
• Ensure drawings and models are accurate, complete, compliant with applicable standards, and ready for manufacturing or implementation.
• Partner closely with engineers, designers, and project stakeholders to clarify requirements and incorporate design changes.
• Maintain organized design documentation and handle sensitive information in accordance with government and company requirements.
• Support or oversee the CAD design process for smaller projects, or defined portions of larger projects, to help ensure quality, accuracy, and alignment with project objectives.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Education: Two-year degree in Design, Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of CAD design experience.
• Technical Skills: Proficient in 2D CAD and 3D modeling. Experience with Inventor, Vault, SolidWorks and PDM preferred. NX, Creo, and CATIA are also acceptable.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Office environment.
• Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time.
• Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key, phones).
