Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Houston, TX is seeking a Drafting Intern to revise existing drawings and prepare drawings of basic components from explicit instructions. You will learn drafting standards, plot drawings, and support a variety of market segments.

This internship offers exposure to Oil, Gas & Chemical and other markets, with assignments varying by project. Ideal candidates are pursuing CAD/Engineering Technology degrees, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and are legally authorized to work in the

Qualifications

Pursuing certificate, Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in CAD, Engineering Technology, or related field.
Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program related to the work in the department.
Minimum 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
Active involvement in campus, community or volunteer activities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
Basic knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Responsibilities

Revise existing drawings and prepare drawings of basic components from explicit verbal or written instructions or detailed sketches.
Learn and follow company and client drafting standards and procedures; learn practices of a selected discipline.
Plot drawings and support drafting activities on various projects.
Assist with other duties as assigned.
