Job Summary:

The CAD/CAM Technician position is accountable utilizing software to produce technical drawing and production drawings for fabrication. The role also applies CAM techniques to prepare programs for manufacturing, contributing directly to the realization of engineering designs in the production process.

Essential Functions:

• Use CAD software to convert design concepts into detailed technical drawings that can be used for manufacturing our parts.
• Create blueprints, technical drawings, or 3-D computer designs of products for prototyping.
• Use CAM to prepare instructions for machines to manufacture products.
• Selects raw materials, cutting tools, and miscellaneous shop supplies to be ordered by the Purchasing Department for special parts requirements
• Oversees the flow of programed parts according to priority and need date.
• Creates part specific set-up sheets, verifies programs at first run, updates all CAD and CAM information for later duplication.
• Works closely with machine operators ensuring effective communication and work instructions.
• Mentors and trains machine operators on best machining practices, assists in troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with Management, Engineering, and machine operators on new job launches and continuous improvement activities.

Desired Qualifications:

The CAD/CAM Technician candidate should have a minimum of 2 years of CNC setup experience or equivalent experience. Experience with Solidworks is required, and RADAN, Streambend, ARtube, woodWop and PLANAR is preferred. For the right candidate without experience, consideration may be given to train for the position and will be at the discretion of the Hiring Manager.
