Job summary

Coalition for Asian American Children and Families (CACF) in New York City is seeking a Director of Development and Communications to lead private philanthropy growth and oversee communications. The role reports to the Co-Executive Directors and collaborates with the Board to expand CACF's base of support.

The ideal candidate will build and scale systems, dashboards, and campaigns, while guiding a team and external partners to advance equity for AAPI children and families.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy spanning foundations, major gifts, annual giving, corporations, events, planned giving, and digital fundraising.
• Equip and partner with the Co-Executive Directors and Board to cultivate, solicit, and steward donors, including preparing leaders to make effective fundraising asks.
• Lead institutional fundraising, grant proposal and reports drafting, and stewardship.
• Lead the fundraising strategy and execution for CACF's annual gala - the organization's largest unrestricted fundraising opportunity as well as other donor cultivation and stewardship events.
• Build systems and standard operating procedures for the Development and Communications Departments.
• Develop fundraising dashboards, KPIs, forecasts, and pipeline reports.
• Lead CACF's communications and marketing strategy, using storytelling, thought leadership, and audience engagement to strengthen visibility and support fundraising goals.
• Develop and manage special organizational campaigns (for example, CACF's current 40th Anniversary fundraising and marketing campaign)
• Manage communications staff, consultants, and future development hires.

Salary: $140,000-$150,000

Founded in 1986, the Coalition for Asian American Children and Families (CACF) is the nation's only pan-Asian children and families' advocacy organization bringing together community-based organizations, youth, and parents to fight for equity for marginalized Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) children and families. For 40 years, CACF has worked to ensure that AAPI communities have a voice in the policies and systems that shape their lives. Through advocacy, coalition-building, leadership development, and community engagement, CACF strengthens the power of AAPI communities and advances policies that improve the health and well-being of children and families across New York.

The Opportunity

CACF is in an exciting period of growth, expanding its model across New York State while strengthening its fundraising and communications capacity. We seek a strategic and entrepreneurial Director of Development and Communications to serve on the senior leadership team, reporting to the Co-Executive Directors. This is an opportunity for a hands-on builder to develop and lead CACF's private philanthropy strategy, with a particular focus on growing institutional and individual giving, while overseeing communications and strengthening the systems, team, and partnerships needed to support long-term growth. The Director will work closely with the Co-Executive Directors and Board to cultivate relationships, make asks, and expand CACF's base of philanthropic support.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of progressively responsible nonprofit fundraising leadership.
• Demonstrated success securing major institutional and philanthropic support.
• Experience supervising staff and partnering with nonprofit boards.
• Track record of creativity and strategic thinking in designing and pitching fundraising requests of individual and institutional constituents.
• Experience in building new systems and standard operating procedures.
• Experience creating multi-year fundraising strategies and budgets.
• Excellent writing, speaking, relationship-building, and project management skills.
• Experience with donor CRM systems, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office.
• Commitment to equity, inclusion, and CACF's mission.

Preferred

• Familiarity with New York's philanthropic landscape.
• Experience managing communications or marketing in a mission-driven organization.

Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $140,000-$150,000.
