Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking a commercial cable technician to install, maintain, and repair structured network infrastructure for businesses in Spartanburg, SC. Duties include running and terminating cables, terminating blocks, patch panels, and jacks, and organizing server rooms and racks.

The role requires hands-on experience with low-voltage/cabled systems, tools, and testing equipment, with a focus on Cat5e/Cat6, fiber optics, and coax, while adhering to safety codes and accurate network

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with 3+ years of hands-on experience in commercial low-voltage or structured cabling.
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, punch-down tools, OTDRs or cable certifiers.
• Ability to lift 50-80 lbs, climb ladders or lifts, work in tight ceiling spaces, and distinguish wire color codes.

Installation

• Run, lace, and route low-voltage cables through ceilings, walls, and raised floors using support structures like J-hooks and cable trays.
• Punch down and terminate voice and data blocks, patch panels, and jacks; assist with server room and rack organization.
• Use diagnostic meters and cable testers to measure signal strength, locate faults, and fix connectivity failures.
• Interpret architectural blueprints, construction drawings, and telecommunication schematics to plan cable paths.
• Label cables accurately, update network documentation, and follow local fire and building safety codes.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $28.00/hr.
