Wage Range: $704.00 - $1,771.50 per week


Summary

Add, place, remove, reroute, set up, rack, splice, transfer, repair, rearrange, bond, pressurize, and test aerial, underground, and buried cable. Mount, cut-in, and repair cable terminal and load cases. Rearrange service drops, aerial and buried jumper wire and step poles. Read and interpret engineering prints. Test, locate, and repair defects in copper and fiber optic cables using electrical and mechanical testing apparatus.


General Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Receiving work assignments from supervisor or designated employees
  • Reading and interpreting engineering plans and vendor specifications
  • Preparing for and performing cable splicing, rearrangement, and termination in various environments
  • Locating and troubleshooting issues in outside plant facilities
  • Determining airflow and pressure in cables, preparing cables for pressurization
  • Using test equipment to check for gas and water in manholes
  • Working aloft, climbing ladders and poles, entering tunnels, buildings, trenches, crawl spaces, manholes, and confined spaces
  • Working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Performing light digging operations
  • Operating trucks and equipment, including aerial lifts and hydraulic ladders
  • Testing and repairing copper and fiber optic cables and digital systems
  • Installing and maintaining inside cables and equipment, including routers and set-top boxes
  • Promoting company services and products
  • Communicating with customers regarding work and service restoration
  • Identifying database discrepancies and performing preventive maintenance
  • Completing administrative paperwork daily
  • Utilizing basic computer skills and working with customer equipment
  • Performing additional duties as required
Basic Qualifications
  • Compliance with safety standards including OSHA and company policies
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 100 pounds, working aloft, climbing, and entering confined spaces
  • Valid state driver's license and ability to operate manual gearshift vehicles
  • For roles requiring CDL, passing alcohol and drug tests and DOT training
  • Availability for scheduled tours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime
Additional Information
  • This employment is temporary, ending within 6-30 months upon project completion
  • Same occupation during employment term
