Job summary

Memphis Light, Gas and Water Division (MLGW) is seeking a Cable Splicer Helper Pre-Apprentice to prepare for entry into the Apprenticeship Program. The role involves on-the-job experience in constructing and maintaining underground electrical facilities, with work outdoors and exposure to high voltage environments.

Candidates must complete safety training, an Electric Utility Construction Course, and obtain the required driver’s licenses.

Qualifications

• Pass annual physical examination as required by TOSHA- Tennessee Occupational Safety and Healthy Act.
• Have successfully completed an approved Electric Utility Construction Course to include Basic Electricity and Pole Climbing
• Have a valid driver's license from state of residence
• Obtain a valid Class A Commercial driver's license from state or residence within trial or probationary period after entering classification
• Successfully complete Placement/Performance Exercises and Physical Abilities test
