Job summary

Skyeton Inc. is seeking a Cable Harness Technician in Fayetteville, NC to build, inspect, and repair electrical wire harnesses and cable assemblies for unmanned aerial systems.

Responsibilities include fabricating per drawings, wiring diagrams, and BOMs; performing tests; and ensuring traceability and quality. Candidates should have at least one year of relevant experience and a high school diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• At least one year of experience building, assembling, repairing, or inspecting cable harnesses or similar precision products.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and assembly drawings.
• Knowledge of wire preparation, crimping, soldering, connector assembly, shielding, and routing.
• Ability to use wire strippers, crimpers, torque tools, multimeters, and related inspection equipment.
• Basic computer proficiency and accurate production/quality records.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate electrical wire harnesses and cable assemblies per drawings, schematics, BOMs, travelers, and work instructions.
• Measure, cut, strip, label, route, terminate, crimp, solder, splice, shield, and protect wires using approved tools and processes.
• Install connectors, backshells, heat-shrink tubing, sleeving, and other harness components.
• Perform in-process and final inspections for pin location, polarity, routing, workmanship, and labeling.
• Conduct continuity, insulation-resistance, and other electrical tests using multimeters and harness testers.
• Identify defects; troubleshoot, rework, and document nonconformances per procedures.
• Maintain production records, material traceability, and inspection results.
• Follow ESD, FOD, safety, and housekeeping requirements.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Quality, and Production to resolve issues and improve processes.
• Support prototype, low-rate initial production, and production builds in a fast-growing aerospace environment.

Job description

The Cable Harness Technician builds, installs, inspects, tests, and repairs electrical wire harnesses and cable assemblies used in Skyeton unmanned aerial systems and related ground-support equipment. This position works from engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, bills of material, work instructions, and quality requirements to produce reliable, traceable assemblies. The technician is expected to demonstrate precision workmanship, strong documentation discipline, and a consistent commitment to safety, quality, and delivery.

What you'll do

• Fabricate electrical wire harnesses and cable assemblies in accordance with drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, bills of material, travelers, and written work instructions.
• Measure, cut, strip, label, route, terminate, crimp, solder, splice, shield, bundle, and protect wire and cable using approved tools, materials, and processes.
• Install and verify connectors, contacts, backshells, heat-shrink tubing, sleeving, braiding, lacing, clamps, strain relief, and other harness components.
• Perform in-process and final inspections for pin location, polarity, routing, workmanship, dimensions, labeling, and configuration accuracy.
• Conduct continuity, point-to-point, insulation-resistance, and other electrical tests using multimeters, harness testers, and approved test equipment.
• Identify and document defects or discrepancies; troubleshoot, rework, and repair assemblies within authorized procedures and obtain required inspection acceptance.
• Maintain accurate production records, material traceability, serial/lot information, inspection results, and nonconformance documentation.
• Use calibrated hand tools and test equipment correctly; complete required tool checks and report damaged, expired, or out-of-calibration equipment.
• Follow electrostatic-discharge (ESD), foreign-object-debris/damage (FOD), safety, housekeeping, and material-handling requirements.
• Partner with Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Quality, and Production to resolve build issues and recommend practical process improvements.
• Support prototype, low-rate initial production, and production builds in a fast-growing aerospace manufacturing environment.
• Perform other related duties as assigned based on operational needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• At least one year of experience building, assembling, repairing, or inspecting cable harnesses, electrical assemblies, avionics, electronics, or similar precision products; relevant technical training may be considered in place of experience.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, bills of material, and written work instructions.
• Working knowledge of wire preparation, crimping, soldering, connector assembly, pinning/de-pinning, shielding, splicing, and harness routing.
• Ability to use wire strippers, crimpers, insertion/removal tools, soldering equipment, torque tools, multimeters, and related inspection or test equipment.
• Basic computer proficiency and ability to enter accurate production and quality records.
• Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, organization, and ability to perform repetitive precision work.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in a team-based manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Two or more years of cable-harness, avionics, aerospace, defense, electronics, automotive, or regulated-manufacturing experience.
• Current or prior IPC/WHMA-A-620 and/or J-STD-001 certification or equivalent demonstrated workmanship knowledge.
• Experience with aerospace-grade connectors, shielded cable, coaxial cable, data-bus wiring, overbraid, potting, or environmental sealing.
• Experience using automated continuity or hipot test equipment and documenting first-article or in-process inspection results.
• Familiarity with AS9100, configuration control, ESD controls, FOD prevention, and material/lot traceability.
• Experience supporting prototype or new-product-introduction builds where drawings and processes may evolve under formal change control.
