Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a skilled technician to assemble wire harnesses and avionics hardware for spacecraft development. You will interpret schematics, use hand tools and test equipment, and ensure adherence to safety standards while integrating hardware into test beds and systems.

Strong communication and quick learning are essential. Responsibilities include building harnesses, troubleshooting assemblies, and supporting system testing in a collaborative ACE team environment at our Seattle

Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience assembling cable harnesses.
  • 2+ years experience in assembly of avionics, medical devices, or other safety‑critical fields.
  • Able to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and assembly procedures.
  • Proficient with basic electronic lab equipment (power supplies, handheld multimeters).
  • Understand ESD prevention and controls; basic electronics theory.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication; team player.

Responsibilities

  • Build wire harnesses and cable assemblies (primary 90% of daily work).
  • Troubleshoot and repair electronic assemblies.
  • Integrate avionics and GSE into test beds and software/hardware.
  • Support system testing.

This role is part of Advanced Concepts and Enterprise Engineering (ACE), supporting Blue Origin’s mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. The team fosters innovation and drives engineering workflows of the future, shared solutions and standards, simplicity and lower costs, and manufacturable design.

As part of a hardworking team of specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will build and test avionics hardware to support various aspects of spacecraft development and qualification. In this role, you will have impact on many different aspects of space‑plus vehicle development and production!

Special Mentions
  • Shifts available: 2nd shift Monday‑Friday (1pm‑9pm)
  • Interviews will include a technical assessment requiring a computer
Responsibilities
  • Building wire harness/cable assemblies (primary responsibility - at least 90% of daily work)
  • Troubleshooting and repairing electronic assemblies
  • Integrating avionics and ground support hardware into the software and hardware test beds
  • Supporting system testing
Minimum Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience with assembling cable harnesses
  • 2+ years of experience in assembly of avionics, medical devices, or other similar safety‑critical fields
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and written assembly procedures
  • Experience with common hand tools, such as torque wrenches and screwdrivers
  • Proficient in the use of basic electronic lab test equipment, such as power supplies and handheld multimeters
  • Understanding of ESD prevention and controls
  • Good understanding of basic electronics theory – voltage, resistance, current
  • Basic digital literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, etc)
  • Ability to follow written assembly procedures
  • Ability to learn new skills quickly
  • Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, attention‑to‑detail, and desire for continuous improvement
  • Ability to thrive as a member of a collaborative team
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2-year Associate’s degree in electrical or electronic engineering technology
  • Current or expired certifications in PCBA inspection (IPC‑A‑610), harness assembly (IPC/WHMA‑A‑620), soldering (J‑STD‑001), PCBA rework (IPC‑7711/7721)
  • Experience with 5S or LEAN Six Sigma
  • Experience with hipot harness testers
  • Experience with potting connectors
  • Experience with high voltage systems or NFPA 70E training
  • Experience with ANSI‑ESD‑S20.20
  • Experience with AS9100

Base Pay Range for WA applicants: $29.91 - $41.87

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre‑employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
