Job summary

Gerelco Electrical Contractors is seeking a Field Technician for our Tampa office to install, test and document complex cabling systems across telecom, CCTV, security and wireless networks.

The role requires hands-on installation, termination and testing of low voltage and fiber optic cables, with familiarity with ANSI/TIA/EIA, BICSI and NEC standards. A valid Florida driver's license and the ability to work from heights are essential.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience installing cabling for telecom systems, CCTV, security, access control and wireless solutions.
• Ability to install, terminate and test low voltage cables and fiber optics.
• Strong understanding of low voltage infrastructure and related services.

Job description

Gerelcom, a company within the Gerelco Family of Companies, provides the highest quality, best performing Structured Cabling Systems available.

We are seeking a Field Technician for our Tampa office.

The principal responsibility is to install cable pathway systems with various cables that include but are not limited to, twisted pair cable, coax, single mode fiber optic cable and multi-mode fiber optic cable. Cable Installation includes placement, termination, testing, labeling and documentation.

Essential Functions

• Install, terminate, test, label and document horizontal, backbone and other cables.
• Dress and route cable into telecom closets and equipment rooms.
• Build out telecom and equipment rooms.
• Test, troubleshoot and document test results for cabling.
• Interface with customer contacts on project and work orders.
• Ability to work from heights such as bucket trucks, scissor lifts, and roof tops utilizing proper fall protection.

Required Education and Experience

• Must have 3 to 5 years of experience in the installation of cabling associated with: Telecom Systems, CCTV, Security, Access Control and Wireless Solutions
• Must have the ability to install, terminate and test low voltage cables and fiber optic cables. Should have a strong understanding of low voltage infrastructure and related services.
• Possess a working knowledge of ANSI/TIA/EIA cabling standards, BICSI and NEC.
• Must be able to pass background check for security and school board badges.
• Must have and maintain a current, clean Florida driver’s license.

Hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
