Job summary

Data Guide Cable Corp in Gardner, MA seeks a Cable Operator for our wire and cable production environment. This full-time, hourly position involves operating cabling equipment to assemble insulated conductors into finished cable constructions and supporting safe, efficient production.

Responsibilities include setup, startup, operation of payoffs and cablers, following work orders, inspecting for defects, and maintaining accurate production records. Overtime and weekend shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• Mechanical aptitude for operating and setting up cabling equipment.
• Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality for rotating shifts.
• Attention to detail to ensure cable quality and specifications.
• Basic math for measurements and data recording.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and handle reels and materials.
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Good communication and teamwork in a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist with setup, start-up, and shutdown of cabling production lines.
• Operate cabling equipment such as payoffs, cablers, binders, fillers, and take-up systems.
• Read work orders and production documentation to ensure correct materials.
• Load and verify materials like insulated conductors and reels before production.
• Monitor line speed, tension, lay length, and conductor alignment during operation.
• Make basic machine adjustments under supervision.
• Inspect cables for defects and verify specifications with measuring tools.
• Complete production reports and quality checks with material traceability.
• Assist with reel changes and material changeovers as required.
• Maintain clean, organized work area following 5S principles.
• Communicate process or equipment issues to lead or supervisor.
