Job summary

Teledyne Technologies Incorporated seeks an Assembly Technician to prepare and hand-solder wire and cable connectors for molding processes. The role requires following drawings, performing quality checks, and using hand and power tools in a high-precision environment.

Core schedule is 6am-2:45pm Monday through Friday with potential overtime. Must have 5 years of electro-mechanical assembly experience and be a US Citizen or eligible to work in the US.

Qualifications

  • Minimum High School diploma/GED required.
  • 5 years electro-mechanical assembly experience in manufacturing with ability to read detailed drawings and schematics.
  • Prior hand soldering experience; wire & cable soldering highly preferred.
  • Must be US Citizen or US Person.

Responsibilities

  • Performs fine hand soldering using a soldering iron and magnifying glass.
  • Follows detailed production drawings and work instructions.
  • Assembles components, uses hand and power tools, and inspects parts for quality.
  • Interprets drawings, BOMs, and instructions to complete assemblies.
  • Ensures safety procedures and PPE are followed during operation.

Job Description
Position Overview

The Assembly Technician position prepares and hand solders wire and cable connectors, splices, sockets, for the molding process per defined policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Performs fine hand soldering using a soldering iron and magnifying glass.
  • Follows detailed production drawings, sample assemblies and verbal instructions under general supervision.
  • Understands and applies established acceptable workmanship practices to all facets of mechanical assembly.
  • Interprets and works from drawings, work instructions and bills of material to understand the required parts and steps needed to complete the assigned assembly.
  • Works on assembled components, requiring manual dexterity and the ability to work with simple hand tools and soldering equipment.
  • Uses a variety of hand and power tools to perform skilled fitting and assembly work.
  • Inspects parts for quality and performs basic testing throughout the assembly process.
  • Adjusts or trims materials from components to achieve specified electrical or dimensional characteristics.
  • Follows safety procedures and wears required PPE in the work area.
  • Practices safe handling of flammable and hazardous chemicals required to meet all OSHA regulations and cleanliness specifications.
Requirements
  • Minimum High School diploma/GED
  • 5 years electro-mechanical assembly experience in a manufacturing environment including the reading and interpretation of detailed electronic drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Must have prior hand soldering experience, wire and cable soldering highly preferred.
  • Current or prior J-STD 001 and/or IPC 620 certification preferred.
  • Must be willing to receive and provide cross training in all assemblies.
  • Good work ethic and reliability; consistently at work and on time.
  • Candidate must be a US Citizen or hold "US Person" status. (A U.S. Person is defined as a person who is a lawful permanent resident “Green Card holder” as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1101 (a)(20) or who is a” Protected Individual” as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).)
Knowledge And Skills
  • Ability to read, write, and speak the English language at a level that allows for the comprehension of detailed work and safety instructions and the legible completion of required paperwork.
  • Must have good vision (corrected vision is acceptable) to perform visual inspection of product quality and to identify defects. Must be able to distinguish colors.
  • Must possess good manual dexterity to effectively use basic hand tools and equipment.
  • Experienced with some basic power tools (power drills, sanders, etc.)
  • Basic level understanding of mechanical hardware (nuts, bolts, screws, etc.) assembly.
  • Basic level understanding of blueprints, Bill of Materials and mechanical drawings,
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Exhibits mechanical aptitude.
  • Must have basic computer skills.
  • Requires ability to perform simple mathematical calculations.
  • Understanding of 5S and Lean Manufacturing practices is a plus.

Core work schedule is 6am-2:45pm Monday through Friday with availability for overtime Monday through Saturday as needed.
