Job summary

Airbus Americas, Inc. is seeking a senior engineer to design and integrate aircraft cabin and cargo interiors and to provide engineering support for airline customers. You will work from initial concepts through final installation with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires a BS in engineering with 9+ years in design, PM experience, and strong knowledge of design principles, documentation, and communication. Proficiency in CATIA, MS Excel, and English is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Aero, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical).
• Minimum nine (9) years total experience in design with cabin and cargo and/or system installation projects.
• Minimum two (2) years of Project Management Experience.
• In-depth knowledge of technical principles of design, theories, and concepts.
• Experience reading engineering drawings, procedures and BOM systems.

• Lead discussions to resolve issues, propose solutions, and communicate status.

Job Description: Position Summary This position supports the development and customization of aircraft cabin and cargo interiors / payloads for airline customers. Duties includes performing engineering design, analysis and integration of aircraft interior components from initial conceptual phase to final product installation, and providing engineering support to airline customers in the operation of the aircraft.

Your working environment: The Engineering Center in Mobile, Alabama houses hundreds of Airbus engineers who assist in the design and development of Airbus commercial aircraft cabins, including aftermarket upgrades, reconfigurations and services of all product types across the globe.

Primary Responsibilities

Autonomously perform moderate to complex levels of design solution development. Team assignments may include detail part design, layout maturation, trade study analysis, certification activity, or in-service support. Create or modify technical documents within various Airbus computer based applications with high quality and efficiency. Accept broad objectives with agreed deadlines and establish the tasks required and how they should be completed. Works independently. Demonstrates a high level of listening and oral skills by leading discussions on issues, solutions, ideas, and status of work. Collaborate with appropriate Airbus departments to develop optimum design solutions independently. Mentor and provide leadership to less experienced designer/design engineers. Leads in the preparation of complex business and technical material and presentation packages. Identify and support local improvement initiatives to increase team efficiency through process, methods and tools improvements.

• Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering (Aero, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical)
• Minimum nine (9) years total experience in design with cabin and cargo and/or system installation projects.
• Minimum two (2) years of Project Management Experience.
• Position requires in-depth knowledge of technical principles of design, theories, and concepts.
• Applied knowledge of design documentation, techniques and procedures.
• Capable of working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment both independently and collectively.

• Able to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical procedures and bill of material systems to develop project plans.

• Knowledge of Regulatory Requirements pertaining to aircraft design, certification and maintenance.
• Able to lead small teams technically to achieve agreed milestones.
• Able to effectively prepare and deliver detailed, complex presentations inside and outside the organization.
• Strong computer background, including MS Excel and Google Suite application experience (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail)
• 3D Modeling Experience (CATIA or 3D experience preferred)
• Must be able to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written)
• Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interface with all levels of personnel and disciplines.
• Demonstrates a high level of listening and oral skills by leading discussions on issues, solutions, ideas and status of work.
• Travel Required 5% Domestic and International
• Citizenship Authorized to Work in the US
• Preferred Master’s Degree in an Engineering discipline.
• Experience working with Airlines and/or MRO.
• Software coding in C, C++, Python, or other programming languages.
• Working knowledge of Airbus Structures.
• Conversational French and/or German.

Physical Requirements

• Vision: able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings.
• Daily Hearing: able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on production floor including safety warnings or alarms.
• Daily Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.
• Daily Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.
• Daily Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
• Daily Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
• Daily Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.
• Daily Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer.
