Job summary

CliftonLarsonAllen LLP (CLA) is seeking a Controller with Professional Service Industry experience to join our CAAS (Client Accounting & Advisory Services) practice. You will lead budgeting, financial planning, and reporting, working closely with client teams to deliver customized accounting services.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of accounting/financial experience, a Bachelor's degree, and strong proficiency in QuickBooks and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; combination of experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.
• 7 years of relevant accounting/financial experience required; public accounting preferred.
• CPA certification preferred but not required.
• Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks) highly preferred; proficiency with MS Excel/Office expected.

Responsibilities

• Develop internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for budgeting, cash and credit management, and accounting.
• Coordinate financial planning, budgeting, procurements, or investments; prepare financial information.
• Direct preparation of financial statements, forecasts, budgets, or reports for regulatory bodies.
• Evaluate needs for funds and investments; make recommendations.
• Monitor ratio and key performance indicators (KPI).
• Oversee accounting staff performance and implement improvements.
• Advise management on short- and long-term financial objectives and actions.
• Communicate with boards, bankers, investors, and other stakeholders; may prepare board materials.

CLA is looking for a Controller with Professional Service Industry experience, to join our CAAS (Client Accounting & Advisory Services) practice.

Job Description:

• Develop internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for activities such as budget administration, cash and credit management, and accounting.
• Coordinate and directs the financial planning, budgeting, procurements, or investment activities for all or part of an organization. Prepare financial information.
• Prepare and/or direct preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, budgets, or reports required by regulatory agencies.
• Evaluate needs for procurement of funds and investment of surpluses and make appropriate recommendations.
• Monitor ratio and key performance indicators (KPI).
• Monitor and evaluates the performance of accounting and other financial staff, recommending and implementing actions.
• Advise management on short-term and long-term financial objectives, policies, and actions.
• Communicate on a regular basis with boards, bankers, investors, constituents, etc.; may include prepping for and/or hosting board presentations.

Education/Experience:

• Education: Bachelor's degree is required. Combination of related experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree. CPA certification is preferred but not required.
• Experience: 7 years of relevant accounting and/or financial experience is required. Public accounting experience preferred.
• Aptitude for developing and maintaining a thorough working knowledge of accounting software and systems. QuickBooks experience is highly preferred.
• Proficiency with applicable software (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
• Travel: This position requires working primarily in-office, including local travel to/from client sites (depending on location), as well as occasional non-local or overnight travel for client visits, training, meetings and/or other business-related purposes.

The compensation range for this position in Massachusetts is: $116,000.00 - $187,000.00

The compensation range for this position in Illinois is: $87,000.00 - $175,000.00
