Job summary

CLA is seeking a Controller for its Non-Profit Services (CAAS) practice. Roles available in Chicago, Missouri, Indiana and Ohio locations. You will act as Controller for designated clients, advising on accounting and finance best practices and managing multiple projects to meet deadlines.

Required eight years of accounting/finance experience and a bachelor’s degree; nonprofit experience and CPA are preferred but not required. Compensation ranges are discussed, reflecting geography and experience.

Qualifications

• Eight years of relevant accounting and/or financial experience required.
• Bachelor’s degree required; combination of related experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree.
• Public accounting experience preferred.
• Experience in nonprofit is highly preferred.
• CPA certification preferred but not required.
• Prior project management and client management experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Act as the Controller for the designated clients you service.
• Serve as consultant and advisor on accounting and finance-related engagements.
• Provide project management across multiple clients, work, and deadlines.
• Prepare and analyze client financial statements and make recommendations.
• Foster opportunities and attend industry events and trainings.
• Maintain knowledge of client policies, federal/state directives, and current accounting standards.
• Advise management on short- and long-term financial objectives, policies, and actions.

CLA is looking to hire a Controller for our Non-Profit Services (CAAS) practice. Opportunities are available in our Chicago, Missouri, Indiana and Ohio locations

As a Controller, You Will

• Act as the Controller for the designated clients you service.
• Take on the role of consultant and advisor to your clients on best practices for accounting and finance-related engagements.
• Provide project management expertise by managing multiple clients, work, and deadlines.
• Prepare and analyze client financial statements and make recommendations.
• Foster and build opportunities and attend industry-leading events and trainings.
• Maintain knowledge of the client’s organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.
• Advise management on short-term and long term-financial objectives, policies, and actions.

What You Will Need

The compensation range for this position in Illinois is: $87,000.00 – $175,000.00
