Job summary

CLA (CliftonLarsonAllen) seeks a Controller with logistics industry expertise to join its CAAS (Client Accounting & Advisory Services) practice. You will lead accounting activities, develop internal controls, and provide strategic financial guidance to clients.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and about 7 years of relevant experience; CPA is preferred but not required. Travel to client sites and in-office work are expected, with a competitive compensation range.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Develop internal control policies and procedures for budgeting, cash management, and accounting.
• Direct financial planning, budgeting, procurements, and investment activities; prepare financial information.
• Prepare and direct preparation of financial statements, reports, budgets, and regulatory filings.
• Advise on procurement of funds and investment of surpluses; provide recommendations.
• Monitor KPI's and financial performance; evaluate staff performance.
• Advise management on short- and long-term financial objectives and actions.
• Communicate with boards, bankers, investors, and stakeholders; prepare board materials.

CLA is looking for a Controller with Logistics industry experience, to join our CAAS (Client Accounting & Advisory Services) practice.

Job Description

• Develop internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for activities such as budget administration, cash and credit management, and accounting.
• Coordinate and directs the financial planning, budgeting, procurements, or investment activities for all or part of an organization. Prepare financial information.
• Prepare and/or direct preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, budgets, or reports required by regulatory agencies.
• Evaluate needs for procurement of funds and investment of surpluses and make appropriate recommendations.
• Monitor ratio and key performance indicators (KPI).
• Monitor and evaluates the performance of accounting and other financial staff, recommending and implementing actions.
• Advise management on short-term and long-term financial objectives, policies, and actions.
• Communicate on a regular basis with boards, bankers, investors, constituents, etc.; may include prepping for and/or hosting board presentations.

Education/Experience

• Education: Bachelor's degree is required. Combination of related experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree. CPA certification is preferred but not required.
• Experience: 7 years of relevant accounting and/or financial experience is required (logistics industry experience is highly preferred). Public accounting experience preferred.
• Aptitude for developing and maintaining a thorough working knowledge of accounting software and systems. QuickBooks experience is highly preferred.
• Proficiency with applicable software (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
• Travel: This position requires working primarily in-office, including local travel to/from client sites (depending on location), as well as occasional non-local or overnight travel for client visits, training, meetings and/or other business-related purposes.

The compensation range for this position in Minnesota is: $98,000.00 – $168,000.00
