Job summary

CLA (CliftonLarsonAllen) seeks a seasoned Controller with Healthcare Industry experience to join its CAAS (Client Accounting & Advisory Services) practice. You will work 1:1 with clients to provide customized accounting services, lead internal controls, and shape financial planning and reporting for healthcare clients.

The position emphasizes in-office collaboration, client relationship management, and KPI monitoring, with travel to client sites as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; CPA certification preferred but not required.
• 6 years of accounting/financial experience; logistics industry experience preferred; public accounting experience preferred.
• Proficiency with accounting software and systems; QuickBooks highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP; proficiency with Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Willingness to travel locally to client sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Develop internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for budgeting, cash and credit management, and accounting.
• Coordinate and direct financial planning, budgeting, procurements, or investment activities; prepare financial information.
• Prepare and/or direct preparation of financial statements and reports for regulatory agencies.
• Evaluate needs for funds and investment of surpluses; make recommendations.
• Monitor KPI performance and staff; provide feedback and development.
• Advise management on financial objectives, policies, and actions; support board communications.

As a member of CLA’s CAAS practice, you will be an integral part of the CLA client service team and will work directly 1:1 with our clients to provide customized accounting services to support them as they manage and grow their business or organization.

CLA is looking for a Controller with Healthcare Industry experience, to join our CAAS (_ Client Accounting & Advisory Services _) practice on a casual basis.

Job Description:

• Develop internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for activities such as budget administration, cash and credit management, and accounting.

• Coordinate and directs the financial planning, budgeting, procurements, or investment activities for all or part of an organization. Prepare financial information.

• Prepare and/or direct preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, budgets, or reports required by regulatory agencies.

• Evaluate needs for procurement of funds and investment of surpluses and make appropriate recommendations.

• Monitor ratio and key performance indicators (KPI).

• Monitor and evaluates the performance of accounting and other financial staff, recommending and implementing actions.

• Advise management on short-term and long-term financial objectives, policies, and actions.

• Communicate on a regular basis with boards, bankers, investors, constituents, etc.; may include prepping for and/or hosting board presentations.

Education/Experience:

• _ Education: _Bachelor’s degree is required. Combination of related experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree. CPA certification is preferred but not required.

• _ Experience _: 6 years of relevant accounting and/or financial experience is required (logistics industry experience is highly preferred). Public accounting experience preferred.

• Aptitude for developing and maintaining a thorough working knowledge of accounting software and systems. QuickBooks experience is highly preferred.

• Proficiency with applicable software (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).

• _ Travel _: This position requires working primarily in-office, including local travel to/from client sites (depending on location), as well as occasional non-local or overnight travel for client visits, training, meetings and/or other business-related purposes.

Skills/Knowledge:

• An understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (FASB/SFAS) or other comprehensive basis of accounting
