Job summary

CLA (CliftonLarsonAllen) seeks a Controller with Healthcare Industry experience for the CAAS practice, based in Appleton, WI or northern Minnesota offices (Monticello, St. Cloud, Alexandria, Brainerd).

You will help clients mitigate risk, meet deadlines, and oversee finance functions while coordinating with leadership. The role requires 7 years of controller experience (healthcare preferred), CPA is not required, and travel is local to client sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; CPA certification preferred but not required.
• 7 years of experience as a Controller; healthcare industry experience highly preferred.
• Experience with accounting software; QuickBooks and NetSuite highly preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.

Responsibilities

• Develop deep knowledge of GAAP (FASB/SFAS) and the financial/operational aspects of the technology industry.
• Develop internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for budgeting, cash/credit management, and accounting.
• Coordinate and direct financial planning, budgeting, procurements, or investments for all or part of an organization.
• Prepare financial information and statements for regulatory reporting.
• Monitor KPIs and financial staff performance; implement improvements as needed.
• Advise management on short-term and long-term financial objectives and actions.
• Communicate with boards, bankers, investors, and other stakeholders; assist with board presentations.

About The Role

CLA is looking to hire a Controller with Healthcare Industry experience, for our Client Accounting & Advisory Services (CAAS) practice based out of either our Appleton, WI or northern Minnesota office locations (Monticello, St. Cloud, Alexandria, or Brainerd MN). As a Controller, you will help our clients transform their business with a collaborative approach that allows them to seamlessly mitigate risk, overcome challenges, meet deadlines, and identify personnel to help them with their workforce needs.

Primary Responsibilities…

• Develop full knowledge of GAAP (FASB/SFAS) and deep understanding of financial and operational aspects of the technology industry.
• Develop internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for activities such as budget administration, cash and credit management, and accounting.
• Coordinate and direct the financial planning, budgeting, procurements, or investment activities for all or part of an organization.
• Prepare financial information.
• Prepare, or direct preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, budgets, or reports required by regulatory agencies.
• Evaluate needs for procurement of funds and investment of surpluses and make appropriate recommendations.
• Monitor ratio and key performance indicators (KPI).
• Monitors and evaluates the performance of accounting and other financial staff, recommending and implementing actions.
• Advise management on short-term and long-term financial objectives, policies, and actions.
• Communicate on a regular basis with boards, bankers, investors, constituents, etc.; may include prepping for and/or hosting board presentations.

What You Will Need

• Education: Bachelor's degree is required. Combination of related experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree. CPA certification is preferred but not required.
• Experience: 7 years relevant work experience as a Controller or equivalent is required. Relevant experience in the Healthcare industry is highly preferred! Public accounting experience preferred but not required.
• Aptitude for developing and maintaining a thorough working knowledge of accounting software and systems. Experience with QuickBooks and NetSuite is highly preferred.
• Proficiency with applicable software (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
• Travel: This position works primarily in-office and requires frequent local travel to/from local area client sites. It may require occasional non-local or overnight travel for client visits, training, meetings and/or other business-related purposes.

The compensation range for this position in Minnesota is: $98,000.00 – $168,000.00
