Job summary

CLA is seeking a CFO to lead our State & Local Government CAAS practice in Central Illinois, with opportunities in Peoria, Champaign, Bloomington and Dixon. The SLG team will implement strategic initiatives to grow the team and scale outsourcing operations.

The ideal candidate has extensive accounting/finance experience in State & Local Government, strong leadership, and a track record of growing teams. This on-site role requires local travel and offers a compensation range aligned with Illinois

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required; combination of related experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.
• 8 years of relevant accounting/financial experience required.
• Experience in State & Local Government is required.
• Experience leveraging personal/professional networks for business development and building teams through growth.
• CPA is not required but highly preferred.
• Frequent local travel to/from client sites and occasional non-local travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Partner with client leadership on operational and strategic issues using financial analysis.
• Monitor budgets and present operational metrics.
• Develop knowledge of GAAP and financial/operational aspects of industries.
• Ensure financial staff maintain records and monitor funds.
• Manage cash flow, forecasting, and financial accounting.
• Oversee capital planning, risk management, and board interactions.
• Manage multiple client engagements and build strong client relationships.

About the role

CLA is looking to hire a CFO to lead our growing State & Local Government (CAAS) practice in Central Illinois. Opportunities are available in our Peoria, Champaign, Bloomington and Dixon locations. The SLG team has experienced significant growth over the past few years and this role will implement strategic initiatives to continue to grow the team and scale the outsourcing operations.

Responsibilities

• Frequently partner with client’s leadership on operational and strategic issues as they arise, providing recommendations based on financial analysis of projections, cost identification and allocation, and revenue/expense analysis.
• Monitor progress of budgets and present operational metrics.
• Develop full knowledge of GAAP and deep understanding of financial and operational aspects of specific industries.
• Ensure financial staff maintains financial record systems in accordance with appropriate principles and monitors the use of funds.
• Manage cash flow and forecasting, directing financial accounting.
• Manage capital planning, risk management, and board of director interactions.
• Effectively manage multiple client engagements.
• Build strong client relationships and become a key member of client management teams.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree is required. Combination of related experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree.
• 8 years of relevant accounting and/or financial experience is required.
• Experience in State & Local Government is required.
• Experience in using personal and professional network for business development and proven record of building and managing teams through growth.
• CPA is not required but highly preferred.
• This position requires frequent local travel to/from client sites and may require occasional non-local or overnight travel for client visits, training, meetings and/or other business-related purposes.

Factors such as geography, experience, education, skills, and knowledge may impact position of pay within the range. The compensation range for this position in Illinois is: $108,000.00 – $192,000.00
