Job summary

Benchmark Education Company is seeking a National Literacy Consultant for California to advance literacy education through training, implementation support, and coaching for district leaders and teachers. The role requires delivering professional development, building strong educator partnerships, and serving as a SME in Benchmark products and literacy practices.

The position involves traveling up to 70% within CA and collaborating with administrators, coaches, and teachers to implement ELA

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Education.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in K-12 education.
• Teaching experience in Comprehensive Literacy, Science of Reading Research, Intervention Work, ELL Support.
• Experience with technology in education and adult learning practices.
• Familiarity with CA state standards and CA literacy initiatives.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, Zoom, TEAMS, and online tools (Google Classroom a plus).
• Superior communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills with the ability to present to large audiences and key decision-making stakeholders in sales situations.
• Travel up to 70%, including overnight stays.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a Benchmark product and professional development specialist providing onsite and remote implementation/service as determined by the PD Region Consultant Manager.
• Provide consultation and training to administrators, coaches, teachers and other district staff based on the training material.
• Train administrators, coaches, teachers and other district leaders on effective implementation of Benchmark Education Company’s ELA curriculum in dual-language settings.
• Deliver engaging professional development and in-service trainings on all products for new and current users.
• Serve as subject matter expert in Benchmark Education products, literacy pedagogy, and best practices.
• Develop and refine professional learning materials, implementation resources, presentations, pacing guides, and tools for customer training and support under direction of PD leadership.
• Coach and support individual teachers and instructional teams through classroom modeling, observation, feedback, and demonstration lessons in classrooms.
• Research, develop, and share best practices related to literacy instruction and instructional technologies.
